APD Explorers compete in 25th Annual TLEEAA State Competition

During the weekend of July 12, 2014, Austin Police Explorers, along with 96 teams from around Texas, attended the 25th Annual Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association State Competition (TLEEAA) at the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas.

The Explorers received awards for the following achievements:

  • Explorer of the Year, Christian Mendoza
  • Post of the Year, North Post #1000
  • 2nd Place Active Shooter Scenario, North Post #1000
  • 3rd Place Burglary in Progress Scenario, Combined North and South posts
  • 3rd Place Domestic Crisis Scenario, North Post #1000
  • 3rd Place Officer Down Rescue Scenario, Combined North and South posts
  • 3rd Place Bike Obstacle Challenge, Explorer Seth Davis, North Post #1000
  • 3rd Place Video Competition, Explorer Kelsey Ellis, North Post #1000

Over a two-day period, each explorer competed in eight different scenarios, multiple individual events such as Non-Emergency Driving Course (NEVO), Bicycle Obstacle Course, Physical Fitness Agility Course, and various other activities. Additionally, Explorers who were interested had the opportunity to enter a mini-triathlon on the final day of the competition.
